3 different quality classes of green emeralds are separated out from black Mica in an online process. Hand picking replaced and process plant improved.
Since 2007 CommodasUltrasort’s optical sorting machine is used to separate high quality Emeralds (Be3 Al2 Si6 O18) with various shades of green from black Mica while replacing hand picking belts in Malysheva, Yekaterinburg Region, Russia.
As ROM (Run of mine) is feeded underground resources as well as dump material. After crushing, screening and washing the feed is presented to the sorter at a size of -25/+5 mm. While replacing the hand picking process the productivity of the process plant has significantly improved.
The installation of the CommodasUltrasort sensor based sorting system leads to a stabilisation of the output quality as well as a significant throughput lift up and guarantee the operating company an efficient and highly profitable process with a minimum break-even time.
