Talc
Grey granite is separated out in a first process and the light
(high value) is then separated from the dark talc in a second
process.
In 2007, CommodasUltrasort’s sorting equipment was used to separate highgrade talc from waste material at Dynatec’s waste dump in Madoc, Ontario. Without the help of a sorter, the well-known mine may have faced closure.
CommodasUltrasort's partner Terra Vision in Canada began sorting the waste. Ore is recovered and then sent to the mill.
To integrate a sorter into regular ore sorting process newer mines can result in higher cash flow, which could be used to pay off the mill more quickly. For older mines, sorting can increase the profitability of operations by only hauling or hoisting ore that is well above the economic cutoff to the processing centre.
