Uranium Ore
For over two decades, radiometric sorting methods have proved to be both practical and economic wherever there is a radiometric difference between the materials to be separated.
Radiometric sorters measure the gamma ray emission of uranium bearing ores. Each rock is scanned by the sensor system for gamma ray emission. The strength of the emission is compared with the particle size to determine mineral grade. Electronic processors analyze information from the sensor system and decide which particles or rocks should be accepted or rejected according to preset selection criteria. Third generation laser scanning techniques have further refined the sensor´s ability to correlate particle size with gamma ray emission levels.
